How to add accounts to Stoclog+

006: Add Accounts

Once you have your account number(s) from your broker, click on +Account:

  1. Account Name: This is a descriptive name that will show on the main page under the account name.
    1. It is strongly suggested that you enter the last-4 digits either in the front or back of the description, or somehow make the name unique for each account.
  2. Account Number: This is from your broker, you can find it in your broker account, monthly statement, or hopefully in the CSV file you download.
  3. Starting Balance: Funds you transferred into your account at the very start. If you don't know, just leave it blank.
Broker Name:  Try searching for the broker by entering at least three (example: fin) characters of the brokers name and press TAB - more characters is better! Stocklog+ contains 110 financial institutions. If there is more than one match, you will be shown a list:

(Brokers containing 'FIN')

If you find your broker, you know it's actually in the database. Click the green button and return to the broker entry line, this time use characters to make the search unique, for example we will use PNC + TAB which will autofill the full broker name and ID. The ID is there for reference, when we searched for 'fin' above, we saw that PNC Financial Services' ID = 63; use this as a reference so you know you've picked the right broker.

(click to zoom)
  PNC+TAB -->

If you do not find your broker, it will advance to Capital Gain Tax. Go back and type the full name of the broker you want to add and again when you TAB Stocklog+ will skip the ID as it will be auto generated.

(Creating a new broker)

Warning
NOTE: Once you save the account, the broker name can not be changed, You would need to re-enter it again as a new broker and that could cause problems if your not careful!

Info
Institutions with multiple divisions have been reduced down to one, i.e. ACME LLC, ACME Holdings, ACME International --> ACME LLC

Capital Gain Tax: If you to pay taxes in your place of residence, you can enter the amount(s) here. The United States currently taxes Long Term (365+ days) and Short Term (less than 365 days) tax rates. Enter your tax rate LONG/SHORT or 15/20 for example. if you only pay one level of tax enter it twice 18/18 for example. You can leave it blank (0/0).

Active Account: You can enable and disable accounts at anytime. A disabled account will disappear from the dropdown list on the main screen and will ignored within Stocklog+.  You can re-enable the account by typing in the account name OR account number + TAB. If will appear if Stocklog+ can locate it, click to re-enable.

Info
You will encounter an Error if you leave the required fields (Account Name & Number, and Broker) empty.

Once you have completed the form, click save. If no errors are raised, you will see the following:

 Click SAVE -->

You can return back to Account Name and enter as many accounts as you need, click Close when done

Now when you click the Account dropdown, you will see all active accounts:

Choosing an account will place you into that account to add trades:
